Landslide death in Malaysia: 3 Bangladeshis identified

The identity of 3 Bangladeshi workers who died due to mudslide in Malaysia has been identified.

Bangladesh High Commission identified them in Kuala Lumpur today Friday.

They are – Zahidul Khan (20) of Shariatpur’s Palong Police Station, Monirul Islam (31) of Bangagura Upazila in Pabna, Md Jazira Police Station of Shariatpur. Sajjad Hossain (20).

The deceased md. Mezzo brother of Sajjad Hossain. Shakil said that all the 3 people who died had migrated to Malaysia this year hoping to change their fate. They were engaged in road construction from Kampung Joh to Kampung Kuala Sat in Pulai Chandang, Kampung Maka area, Machang, Kelantan state, Malaysia.

They died after falling under 10 meters of soil while working on a road construction project on Thursday.

Eyewitness Anis Asikin Arifin said that around 12 noon, he suddenly heard the screams of the workers at the construction site. He saw the digging machine being used to rescue the workers buried under the ground.

Machang Fire and Rescue Station Chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Ahmad Alfara Mohammad Jin said that firefighters took more than 1 hour to retrieve the body.

At 4 o’clock on Thursday, the bodies of 3 people were sent to Machang Hospital for post-mortem. The body has been handed over to the police for further action.

When contacted by phone at the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia, First Secretary Labor Suman Chandra Das said, ‘The identity of the deceased has been identified. Arrangements are being made to send the body to the country quickly after completing all the official procedures.
