Police recovered the body of the cousin of Pabna Sadar Upazila Chairman and Sadar Upazila Awami League President Alhaj Mosharraf Hossain.
The body was recovered from the pond of Officers Colony in Govinda area of Pabna Municipality on Friday morning. However, the family claims that he was killed.
The name of the deceased person is SM Rezaul Hakim Rangoon (45). He is the son of late Abdul Hakim Gali, chairman of Krishnapur area of the municipality.
Quoting the family, the police said, Rangoon went fishing with a fishing rod in the officers colony pond around 1 o’clock on Thursday night. Locals saw the body early in the morning and informed the family. On receiving information, the police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital for post-mortem.
Pabna Sadar Upazila Chairman and Sadar Upazila Awami League President Alhaj Mosharraf Hossain said that Rangoon went fishing with a spear in Officers Colony pond last night. There are injury marks on his body. He also said, we think that someone killed him due to previous enmity.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Roshan Ali said that the police recovered the body. The incident is under investigation. The actual cause of death can be ascertained after the post-mortem. The OC said that no case has been filed yet in this incident.
