Arrested in Siliguri while smuggling gold worth crores of rupees. This huge amount of gold was recovered from a train at NJP station. The Central Department of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has arrested 2 persons on charges of smuggling. It is known that this gold was being smuggled to Rajasthan through Tripura. Earlier, officials of Siliguri branch of Central Revenue Intelligence arrested two persons with a huge amount of gold.

According to intelligence sources, the arrested are Ankit Tak and Kamlesh Ghanchi from Rajasthan. Gold has been seized from the accused. Its total weight is 1 kg 768 grams. The market value of seized gold is estimated to be around 1 crore 7 lakh rupees.

Allegedly, the gold was brought through Sonamura on India-Bangladesh border in Tripura. It was smuggled into Rajasthan. A team of detectives was to lay a trap at the NJP station after receiving advance information about this. Detectives boarded the Rashkranthi Express as it reached NJP station on Wednesday night. They arrested the suspect Ankit and Kamlesh from the train and started interrogation.

According to the detectives, during the interrogation, the accused confessed to the gold smuggling. The two were arrested soon after. According to intelligence sources, the seized gold is foreign. Detectives suspect it was smuggled from Sweden. Those arrested were taken to court on Thursday. An investigation has been started to find out who else is involved in the smuggling.
