Not the alleged Jubodal leader or the police constable, this is the video of the Awami League leader’s child crying over his death

After a youth leader named Shamim was killed during a clash with the police at a BNP rally in Naya Paltan on October 28, a video is circulating on the internet claiming that it is the scene of Shamim and his family members screaming around his body.

It is claimed that this is the body of police constable Amirul Islam Parvez, who was killed in an encounter in the capital on the same day (October 28), and his relatives can be seen in the video screaming around his body.

According to Rumor Scanner team’s investigation, it is not the body of the alleged Yuba Dal leader Shamim or police constable Amirul Islam Parvez who died on October 28, but the old video of October 12 of the body of a local Awami League leader of Bagerhat has been circulated recently with two different claims.

At the beginning of the search, a video (archive) similar to the video discussed in an account called Journalists Kamrul Islam Titu was found on Facebook on October 12 by searching some key-frame reverse images of the video.

According to the caption of the video, this is the scene of UP member Sarwar Talukder’s younger daughter wailing after seeing her father’s body in Sharankhola (Bagerhat).

A live video was found on a Facebook page called News Live24 on the same day (October 12) by searching for the deceased person’s name and relevant keywords. The nearly 45-minute live video shows a crowd of locals gathering in the compound of Sarwar’s house to see Mr. Sarwar’s body.

The Rumor Scanner team found that the news of Mr. Sarwar’s death was also published in several media.

According to a report published on the website of national daily Kaler Kantha on October 12, Sarwar Hossain died while undergoing treatment at Khulna City Medical College Hospital. Sarwar Hossain Talukdar, son of deceased Chanmiya Talukdar of Khada village of Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat, was the General Secretary of Khada Ward Awami League of Rayenda Union and UP member of that ward.

According to the report, when Sarwar Talukder suffered a brain stroke on October 7, he was admitted to the ICU of Khulna City Medical College Hospital. After being on life support for about three days, the doctor declared him dead.
