Brahmanbaria: A passenger bus hit the car of Pakistan Deputy High Commissioner Qamar Abbas Khokhar posted in Bangladesh. Qamar Abbas himself was driving the car.
He was going to Srimangal in Moulvibazar with his family.
The Deputy High Commissioner’s car was overturned by the bus. However, no one was injured in this incident. The Deputy High Commissioner narrowly escaped with his family.
The accident took place on Friday (May 26) noon in Rampur area of Vijaynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.
Akul Chandra Biswas, officer-in-charge of Sarail Khantihata Highway Police Station, confirmed this information.
He said that Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan Qamar Abbas Khokhar himself was going to Moulvibazar in Srimangal by driving a private car from Dhaka. His wife Rehena Sarwar Khokhar, son Mohammad Khokhar and daughter Huda Abbas Khokhar were also in the car at that time. When the vehicle reached Rampur Bridge on the highway, a passenger bus of Durant Paribahan from Habiganj to Dhaka, coming from the opposite direction, collided head-on with the Deputy High Commissioner’s vehicle. At this time, the front part of the car was twisted. After receiving the information, the highway police rushed to the spot and rescued them.
In this incident, the bus driver said. Saiful Islam (30) has been detained. Saiful Habiganj District Md. Son of Shafiqul Islam.
He said that the bus has also been impounded.
The police officer also said that later the Deputy High Commissioner and his family members left for Moulvibazar in another vehicle. A case is being filed in this incident.
