The hanging body of a school teacher named Monira Khatun (29) was recovered from Tangail’s Dhanbari. Her family alleged that Monira was killed because she prevented her husband Redwanul Islam Parvez (35) from marrying. Denying the allegations, Parvez’s family says Monira committed suicide. Police arrested Parvez in this incident.
The incident took place in Ambagan area of Dhanbari town last Thursday night.
Police and locals said that Parvez used to live in a rented house in Ambagan area along with his wife Monira and a daughter. Monira is a school teacher. Monira’s hanging body was recovered from that house last night and taken to the hospital. Police recovered the body from the hospital and her husband Parvez was taken to Dhanbari police station for questioning.
The deceased’s uncle Nurul Islam and sister-in-law Shahadat Hossain Alal said that Parvez Parakia developed an extramarital love relationship with a medical assistant named Tanya Akhter of Dhanbari Hospital. There was often a quarrel between husband and wife about this. Parvez physically abused Monira. Varvez killed Monira when they quarreled again last Thursday night. Later, Monira announced to Saba that she had committed suicide. Parvez took Monira’s body from home to the hospital alone.
Iqabal Hossain Jupiter, uncle of the deceased, said, ‘Parvez’s family is putting political pressure not to do the post-mortem. We want fair trial.’
Parvez’s uncle. Fazlul Haque said, ‘Monira committed suicide. Not killed. Monira’s family is spreading lies to keep us under pressure.’
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanbari Police Station HM Jasim Uddin said, ‘On receiving the news, the body of the teacher was recovered from the hospital and sent to the morgue. Legal action will be taken based on the complaint of the family of the deceased.
