Police are looking for Kohinur Akter, a Rohingya woman living in Noakhali neighborhood of the upazila, in connection with the recovery of the bodies of three friends 26 days after they were abducted in Teknaf. Three friends – Zamir Hossain Rubel, Sheikh Imran Sarkar and Mohammad Yushup – were abducted while going to Lengur Bill of Teknaf Sadar Union from North Nuniarchhara in Cox’s Bazar city on the invitation of Kohinoor. On Wednesday night, the law and order forces recovered the bodies of three friends from Gahin Hill in Damdamiya area of Teknaf.

According to the police and the locals of Lengur Bill, Kohinoor and his family members are absconding since the abduction incident. Only when Kohinoor is found will the reason for the abduction and who is involved in the murder come out. One of the deceased is Rubel, son of the deceased Mohammad Alam, a resident of Uttar Para of Choufaldandi Union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila.

Her niece Rupa Aktar alleged that Rubel Mama had three previous marriages, but all the marriages broke up. So he was looking for a new bride for marriage. In between, Mama fell into the trap of a Rohingya woman named Kohinur. It was the woman who tricked uncle and his friends into the hands of the abductors.

After the disappearance on April 28, the abductors first called and demanded a ransom of Tk 30 lakh. Later this demand came to 5 lakhs. The matter was then reported to the police. We have received information from various sources that Kohinoor used to live in Cox’s Bazar city. The woman brought herself and other Rohingya girls to Cox’s Bazar for prostitution. Rubel’s sister Minu Ara Begum said, I informed the police immediately after my brother went missing and filed a case at Teknaf police station on May 10.

Imran’s mother Hamida Begum said that on April 29, the kidnappers called Imran’s mobile phone and demanded a ransom of Tk 3 lakh. We also borrowed and paid 1 lakh 1 thousand rupees to Imran’s and Rubel’s numbers through Bkash. But the kidnappers killed them because they could not pay the remaining money. My husband Sheikh Ibrahim has visited Teknaf police station at least seven times since hearing about the abduction of his son. But the police never took a GD or a case. Cox’s Bazar Sadar police station authorities also did not record GD or case.

The investigating officer of the case and SI Manzoor of Teknaf police station said that two Rohingyas named Shafi Alam and Yasir Arafat were arrested after Rubel’s sister filed a case regarding the kidnapping of three friends. Meanwhile, the bodies of three friends were recovered last Wednesday. It is being investigated whether the Rohingya woman Kohinu or the abductors have contact with one of the wives of the deceased Rubel. Arrested Shafi and Yasir have been sent to the court and a 10-day remand has been applied for. The date of hearing on this application is fixed on May 28.

Abdul Halim, OC of Teknaf Police Station, denied Garimsi’s involvement in the case and said that the police started work to rescue the three abducted persons immediately after the complaint of the relatives. The complaint of the relatives was registered as a case soon after the truth of the incident was confirmed.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Saiful Islam, the captain of Cox’s Bazar RAB-15, spoke at a press conference yesterday about the recovery of the bodies of three friends.

He said that after three friends were kidnapped, their families demanded a ransom of Tk 30 lakh. When the victim’s families informed the RAB, we launched an operation. With the help of RAB information technology, at that time, they raided Habibachara Gohin Hill in Teknaf and arrested Chayed Hossain alias Sonali Dakat and Emrul Karim. Later, according to the information given by them, three bodies were recovered from the hills of Teknaf Damdamiya area. The bodies were half-melted. The dacoit gang tried to burn the bodies on fire to wipe them out.

He said that people do not travel to the place where the bodies were recovered. It took a little time to identify them as the robbers repeatedly changed the phone’s SIM. Arrested Hossain and Emrul initially admitted that they have been involved in robbery and kidnapping for a long time. They used to target rich people and kidnap them. Those who failed to pay were killed and buried in the ground.
