Chhatra Dal leader Ashraful (22) died after receiving bullet injuries in a clash between two groups of Chhatra Dal in Narsingdi. He died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 9:30 am on Friday. Earlier on Thursday, Sadekur Rahman (35), a former senior joint convener of the district student body, died on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. No case has been filed in the police station yet. Ashraful is the son of Nazmul Haque of Satirpara area in Paur town. And Sadekur Rahman (35) is the son of deceased Alauddin Mia of Baduarchar village in Narsingdi suburb.

It is known that on Thursday afternoon, the deposed Chhatra Dal leaders took out a motorcycle procession to demand the cancellation of the declared committee. The opposition group attacked them on the way to the district BNP office after going around the various roads of the city through Jailkhana junction. Two people named Sadekar Rahman and Ashraful fell on the ground after being shot at them. At that time, the opposing group vandalized two motorcycles and beat up the Chhatra Dal leaders riding the motorcycles. Four more Chhatra Dal leaders were injured.

Meanwhile, Sadekul and Ashraful who were shot were taken to Narsingdi District Hospital and the doctors sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Sadekur died on the way to Dhaka. A day later another Chhatra Dal leader Ashraful died on Friday morning under treatment.

Deposed Chhatra Dal leader Main Uddin Bhuiyan said that Sadek died on Thursday. And today, Ashraful also died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. We want justice for this murder.

Notably, on January 26, Siddiqur Rahman Nahid was approved as the president, Main Uddin Bhuiyan as the senior vice president and Mehedi Hasan as the general secretary of Narsingdi District Chhatra Dal’s 5-member (partial) committee. Main Uddin Bhuiyan was the general secretary candidate of that committee. His followers were continuing their agitation demanding the cancellation of the announced committee as they did not get the desired posts. As a result of this, the Chinishpur residence of BNP joint secretary general and district BNP convener Khairul Kabir Khokon, as well as the district BNP’s temporary office, were repeatedly attacked, vandalized and shot at.
