Chhatra Dal leader Ashraful died after being shot in Narsingdi in a chase and clash between two factions of Chhatra Dal.

He died on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Earlier, Sadekur Rahman (32), a former senior joint convener of the District Students’ Party, died while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital in this incident.

However, a case has not yet been filed in the clash. Sadekur Rahman’s father’s name is Alauddin. The other deceased is the son of Nazmul Haque, a resident of Sathirpara area of Ashraful district.

It is known that on Thursday afternoon, the deposed leaders of Chhatra Dal held a protest march demanding the cancellation of the new committee of Chhatra Dal. Clashes started between the two sides when the procession came in front of the district BNP office after circling the various roads of the city. At that time, Sadekur Rahman and Ashraful were injured by the shots fired by the opponent. Later they were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. These two Chhatra Dal leaders died while undergoing treatment there.

It is to be noted that on January 26, Siddiqur Rahman Nahid was approved as Chhatra Dal president, Mainuddin Bhuiya as senior vice-president and Mehedi Hasan as general secretary. Since then, the deposed Chhatra Dal leaders and activists were continuing their agitation to demand the cancellation of the announced committee. As a result of this, the Chinishpur residence of Central BNP Joint Secretary General and District BNP Convener Khairul Kabir Khokon, as well as the temporary office of District BNP, were repeatedly attacked and vandalized and fired upon.
