A young man named Swapan Sheikh (28) died two weeks after being injured in the head by a wooden batam in Charbhadrasan of Faridpur. However, the accused Sujan, who was hit on the head, is still absconding.

Swapan Sheikh’s relatives said that Sujan, a furniture shop, hit him on the head with a wooden bat for demanding money. His forehead fractured into eight pieces. When the condition worsened, Swapan was brought to Dhaka Medical from the local hospital. Swapan died 14 days later on Thursday (May 25) while undergoing treatment in the ICU.

Swapan is the son of Sheikh Jamal of Dangi village of Abdul Shikdar in Sadar Union of Charbhadrasan. He worked as a contract labourer.

Swapan’s elder brother Salim Sheikh said that at around 7:30 in the evening on May 11, the shopkeeper Sujan hit Swapan on the head with a wooden bat when he asked for the money due at the furniture shop on Adarsh ​​School Road of BS Dangi village. Swapan later died while undergoing treatment in the ICU.

He said that Sujan’s house is in Pierpur area of ​​Munsibazar, Faridpur Sadar Upazila. Sujan ran away after the incident. The next day (May 12), Swapan’s uncle Hazrat Ali Munshi filed a case at Charbhadrasan police station as the plaintiff. But Sujan has not been arrested yet.

Swapan has a wife and a one-year-old son.

In this regard, the officer in charge of Charbhadrasan police station. Salim Reza said, efforts are on to arrest Sujan.
