Two people died in the clash on Thursday afternoon. Chhatra Dal leader Sadekur Rahman (32) died in the evening soon after the clash.
The deceased Ashraful is the son of Nazmul of Citypara village of Sadar upazila. And Sadek, son of deceased Alauddin of Hajipur village of Sadar Upazila, was the former senior joint convener of Narsingdi District Chhatra Dal.
On January 26, the Central Chhatra Dal approved a five-member (partial) district committee with Siddiqur Rahman Nahid as president, Mainuddin Bhuiya as senior vice president and Mehedi Hasan as general secretary.
The leaders and workers of a section of the organization who did not get the post were continuing their agitation demanding the cancellation of that committee. As a result of this, the residence of BNP Central Joint Secretary General and Narsingdi District Convener Khairul Kabir Khokon was attacked multiple times.
Additional Superintendent of Police SME Fazal-e-Khuda of Narsingdi said that a group of leaders and workers who did not get posts in the district committee were protesting with motorcycles near the BNP office in Chinishpur on Thursday. At this time, the leaders and workers of another party attacked them. Sadek and Ashraful were shot in the head and back.
The injured were rescued first to Narsingdi District Hospital and later when their condition worsened they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Around 7:30 in the evening, the doctor on duty declared Sadek dead at Dhaka Medical. And Ashraful was operated at night. He died in the morning post-operatively.
