The Bangladesh team has returned with the crown of excellence in women’s South Asian football. The plane carrying them landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 1:45 pm on Wednesday. After a warm welcome with flowers, Sabina-Sanjidara boarded the open-top bus around 3:30.
Buses from the airport will take the Krishna-Marias to Bafuffe Bhavan. Kazi Salauddin, the head of the country’s football guardian organization, will welcome the champion girls there. Later, the red-green team, which lifted the title after defeating Nepal 3-1, will face the media.
The Tahura-Rupnad open-top bus will pass through Kakli, Jahangir Gate in front of the Prime Minister’s office and go to Kakrail via Vijay Sarani-Tezgaon-Mouchak. From there it will reach Motijheel Bafufe Bhavan through Fakirapool, Arambagh, Shapla square.
Sanjida Akhtar posted a long post on Facebook before the final of Saf. The team’s midfield star wrote, “Even if they can’t lift the title in an open-top bus, they want to win for the people who support them.” Sanjeeda’s hopes have been fulfilled after becoming the champion. They waved their hands in the open-top bus, raised the title, and now they are on the way to Bafuf.
Earlier, the champions were greeted by a stream of eager crowds upon arrival in the country. They were received at the airport by State Minister for Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, Sports Secretary, Executive Committee Member of BAFUF. There the cake was cut, Sabina was given sweets.
The police had to be a little stricter in the face of the crowd to accommodate Sabina. The security personnel also had a gentle push with the journalists who came to collect the news. After waiting for about an hour and a half, Sanjidara can board the open-top bus.
