Marking that place in red, Mushfiq wrote, ‘Masha’Allah.’ There were also three emojis on the side, which showed frustration or annoyance or sadness. Rubel Hossain, another experienced cricketer who played in this match, commented under the post, ‘Very sad brother.’
In the Dhaka Premier League match on Thursday, the game was stopped for 13 minutes at Mirpur Sher Bangla Stadium due to the controversy surrounding Mushfiqur’s dismissal.
It happened in the 34th over of Prime Bank Cricket Club’s run chase against Mohammedan Sporting Club. Mushfiqur plays a slug sweep to off-spinner Naeem Hasan. Abu Haider ran to the left from square leg and palmed the ball with a full length dive. However, YouTube replays showed the catch clearly from two angles, with Abu Haider’s foot touching the boundary rope as he got up after rolling with the catch. Even the rope moves a little on his feet.
Mushfiq was leaving the field thinking he was out. But by that time some of the teammates asked Mushfiq to stop after watching the replay on YouTube. He stood on the field. Prime Bank cricketers all gathered near the border. Many people watch the replay on the phone. Tamim Iqbal is seen talking to the umpires from the side of the boundary.
Prime Bank captain Zakir Hasan was at the crease then. He also talks to the umpires. Mushfiq is also seen very excited on the field. Abu Haider is repeatedly seen talking to Zakir and the umpires.
The two umpires, AIM Moniruzzaman and Sathira Zakir JC, kept talking to the two teams as well as their own discussion. At one time the umpire Moniruzzaman raised his finger and announced the final decision. Mushfiq had to leave the field due to a wrong decision. But they did not withdraw the application. The umpires had nothing to do after that. Tamim Iqbal, who was seen talking to the umpires during the incident, also does not see the responsibility of the umpires here.
