Mustafiz is still learning from IPL

--

“He (Mustafiz) has nothing to learn by playing IPL. Mustafiz’s learning period is over. On the contrary, many players there can learn from Mustafiz’- Jalal Yunus, Head of Cricket Management Department of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), said these words a few days ago. Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle took a hand at BCB after his statement. Mustafizur Rahman poured ghee in that debate. In an interview to Chennai Super Kings’ social media, the 28-year-old left-arm pacer said, ‘More than any other tournament, IPL has all the stars; of all countries If I succeed here it will be easier for me to (perform) elsewhere, I think.’ In the video released yesterday, the left-arm pacer also said about the benefits of playing in the IPL, ‘It works well when I play against big teams. And when you perform against a big team, it’s more of a highlight.’

Mustafiz has been playing almost regularly in the IPL since 2016. He is playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings. But he dreamed of playing in Chennai from the beginning. Hear the story from his mouth, ‘It’s my first season in Chennai. Ever since I started playing, especially in IPL 2016, it has been my dream to play for Chennai. When I got the call, I couldn’t sleep that night.’ Mustafiz was bought by Chennai for a base price of 2 crores in the auction of the current season of IPL. Being in New Zealand that night, he got to know the news through a message from his friends. Talking about what he is learning in the IPL, he said, ‘Mahi bhai showed me some field setups, Bravo how to bowl in the death overs… (taught it). These inputs are very valuable.’ BCB’s director of cricket management says there is nothing to learn, but Mustafiz says he is learning a lot. However, he will get the chance to play the last match for Chennai on May 1.
