Shakib Al Hasan is not staying at the beginning of the T20 series against Zimbabwe. Even though he joined at the end, there was uncertainty about how many matches he would stay for. However, Shakib said that coach Chandika Hathurusinghe has asked him for two matches in this series. On the other hand, captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto has asked him for at least three matches.

Two days ago BCB called 17 cricketers for the preparation camp for the upcoming series. There was a lot of talk about the absence of all-rounder Shakib in that camp. Later, Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu clarified this matter. He said that he will join the Tigers camp at the end of the series. Before this he will play in Dhaka Premier League.

Because Shakib will basically play in the Premier League, various discussions and criticisms started in the social media. But currently Shakib is in USA with his family. The all-rounder spoke about the upcoming series at a recent event there. He also revealed why he will play at the end of the series.

“I will definitely play the Zimbabwe series. Maybe there is a confusion going on in the country about this… In fact, I talked to all the coaches and captains. The coach said that two matches should be played. Talking to the captain and selectors, they said to play two or three matches. I said no problem,’ said Shakib.

And this all-rounder also clarified why he will play in the Premier League, ‘Actually, these decisions are made through discussion. As there will be two matches in Dhaka Premier League before playing the last three matches against Zimbabwe. Therefore, there will be an opportunity to play two matches and also the preparation will be good because of that, actually these two matches will be played.’

However, he also said that he laughs when he sees discussions and criticisms about his not playing against Zimbabwe on social media, ‘I laugh a little when I see these on social media. What has happened has happened within the discussion. Because it is important to see our other players as well. We can prepare the conditions we need to be in to create different types of combinations.’

Five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong from May 3. The remaining two matches will be held on May 5 and 7 at the same ground. After that, the last two matches of the series will be held on May 10 and 12 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
