Narine is not returning to the Windies team

--

Sunil Narine is in great form in this year’s IPL. This is the first time the West Indies all-rounder has seen a century in his T20 career. He has already scored 286 runs at a strike rate of 176.54. He took 9 wickets with the ball. His team Kolkata Knight Riders also has 10 points in 7 matches and is second in the list of this year’s IPL. The Caribbean fans were in high spirits after seeing Narine’s brilliant all-round performance. They wanted to see the 35-year-old star again in the Windies jersey in the T20 World Cup, which is going to be jointly organized with the United States in their country next June. But Narain disappointed them. He has informed that he will not return to international cricket. The Kolkata opener was last seen playing for the Caribbean in August 2019.

He retired from international cricket in November 2023. However, before the T20 World Cup, there are rumors that Narine may return to the national team. He dismissed that rumour. Kolkata has commented on this. Narine was quoted by the franchise as saying ‘I am really happy and humbled that after my recent performances many people have publicly expressed their desire to come back from retirement and see me in the upcoming T20 World Cup. I have made peace with this (retirement) decision and never want to be disappointed. The door is now closed and I will support whoever is playing for the West Indies in June. They have been training very hard for the past few months and they deserve to show off the fans. Good luck to them as they have the potential to win another title.’

West Indies have won the maximum number of T20 World Cup titles (2012 and 2016). Only England has equal titles. Narine played a great role in the final for the Caribbean to win the 2012 World Cup.
