Abahani, Mohammedan and Shinepukur wins

Current champions Abahani Limited have moved closer to the title by maintaining their winning streak in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. Shariful Islam’s bowling helped them lose to Prime Bank by 5 wickets on the first day of the Super Round on Monday.

Mohammedan Spotting Club defeated Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 5 wickets on the same day Mahidul Islam scored a century. Shinepukur Cricket Club beat Gazi Group Cricketers by 13 runs in a low scoring match with Rishad Hossain’s all-rounder skills.

Prime Bank were bowled out for 178 runs in 39.3 overs by Shariful, Taskin Ahmed, Tanveer Islam and Mosaddek Hossain at the Mirpur Shere Bangla National Stadium.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Zakir Hasan’s 112-run partnership returned to Prime Bank after losing 3 wickets for 5 runs. After Mushfiqur’s 65-ball 44 and Zakir’s 70-ball 68, neither could fight back.

Man of the match Shariful with 3 wickets for 27 runs in 8 overs. Taskin, Tanveer and Mosaddek took two victims each.

In reply, Liton Das’ unbeaten 56 off 106 balls and Tawheed Hriday’s 27 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes, Abahani reached the target for 55 runs in 38.3 overs.

Sheikh Jamal scored 259 runs for 2 wickets with a pair of hundreds by Saif Hasan and Taibur Rahman at the Khan Saheb Usman Ali Stadium in Fatulla. Saif scored 120 runs off 146 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes before retiring injured. And Taibur scored an unbeaten innings of 102 runs off 114 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes.

Their double centuries faded in the batting of Mahidul and Mahmudullah. Mahidul scored 101 runs off 122 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. Mahmudullah remained unbeaten on 87 runs with 3 sixes and fours off 88 balls. Mohammedan reached the goal with 2 balls in hand.

On the same day, the match ended early in the third field of Savar. Shinepukur was bowled out for just 1388 runs in 34.5 overs. Tanjid Hasan scored the maximum 42 runs. Rishad scored 33 runs off 26 balls with 4 sixes.

Gazi’s Abdul Ghaffar Saqlain and Husna Habib took 3 wickets each.

In response, Rishad-Arafat Sunny bowled Gazi for just 125 runs in 27.4 overs. Rishad stormed with the bat and was man of the match with 4 wickets for 31 runs in leg spin. Sunny caught 3 victims for 45 runs. Hasan Murad took two for 21 runs.
