Rizwan, accused along with Nasir, was banned for 17 years

Bangladesh cricketer Nasir Hossain has been banned from all forms of cricket for 2 years due to corruption in January. UK-based club cricketer Rizwan Javed has been banned due to corruption. The English cricketer has been banned for 17 and a half years by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The ICC confirmed the punishment of Rizwan Javed by issuing a notice on Thursday (February 15). This is the second longest ban on the list of punishments handed down by the ICC. In 2018, Zimbabwe cricket official Rajan Nair was banned by the organization for 20 years.

Eight players and officials were charged by the ICC in September 2023. Among which is Bangladesh all-rounder Nasir Hossain. Even English cricketer Rizwan is in this list. The accused has failed to respond to the complaint to the ICC anti-corruption officer. The English cricketer broke the 5 anti-corruption clauses of the Emirates Cricket Board.

Rizwan involved in match fixing in 2021 Abu Dhabi T-10 League. He failed to respond to the allegations raised. That’s why ICC Code of Conduct Committee Chairman Michael J Beloff decided to ban KC Rizwan. In the absence of any response, it was assumed that the England player accepted the punishment by admitting the allegations.

Rizwan’s ban is set to begin on September 19, 2023, when he was provisionally banned.
