One shock after another in Sri Lanka cricket. Kushal Mendis had to face the ultimate defeat in the World Cup. After completing the World Cup campaign, the ICC expelled the Sri Lankan board from international cricket. This time, the island nation missed the opportunity to host an ICC tournament.

This decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the ICC on Tuesday.

The 2024 U-19 World Cup was supposed to be held in Sri Lanka. However, the ICC decided to shift the tournament to South Africa. The International Cricket Council made such a decision after looking at the administrative damadol of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.

After Sri Lanka’s banishment from international cricket, they were in danger of losing the right to host the Youth World Cup. The ICC sealed the possibility at the Ahmedabad board meeting last Tuesday. All the cricket activities of the island nation can continue uninterrupted. However, it was decided to uphold the ban imposed by the ICC on the Sri Lankan Cricket Board.

According to the schedule – the 2024 Youth World Cup is scheduled to start on January 14 in the new year. The final match is scheduled to be held on February 15. A simple problem from Sri Lanka to South Africa raises its head in this regard. In fact, the second edition of SA-20 will be held in South Africa at that time. The South African Cricket Board’s new T20 league will be held from January 10 to February 10.
