Jay Shah is destroying Sri Lankan cricket, claims Ranatunga

In an interview, the 59-year-old former cricketer said, ‘Sri Lankan cricket is controlled by Jai Shah. He made Sourav Ganguly the BCCI president and asked him to join politics. He also fired Ganguly for rejecting the offer.’

Ranatunga gave the interview in Sinhala on journalist Samaravikrama’s YouTube channel ‘Truth with Chamudita’. Naturally, Jai Shah is not supposed to understand the Sinhala language.

But Ranatunga feels that if his words are translated into English and delivered to Jai Shah, he will use his father’s (Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s) influence to destroy Sri Lankan cricket. His father’s influence will destroy Sri Lankan cricket. He has so much power only because his father is the Home Minister of India.’

Ranatunga alleged that Jai Shah’s close relationship with the Lankan board officials has created a situation where everyone is subservient to the BCCI. An Indian is destroying Sri Lankan cricket. SLC is collapsing under his pressure.’
