Taskin-Soumya’s craft returns to victory in Dhaka

Taskin Ahmed and Soumya Sarkar’s great performance finally returned Dhaka Dominators to victory. In this victory of 24 runs, Dhaka improved a little from the seventh position with 4 points in eight matches.

After starting the BPL with victory, Dhaka went on the backfoot after losing six consecutive matches. The team led by Nasir Hossain finally saw victory in their eighth match.

Dhaka started the mission with a win against Khulna Tigers in their first match. After that, they lost six consecutive matches against Sylhet Strikers, Chittagong Challengers, Sylhet Strikers, Comilla Victorians, Fortune Barisal and Comilla Victorians.

Dhaka will face Khulna again in their eighth match at Mirpur on Tuesday. After losing the toss and batting, Dhaka were bowled out for just 108 runs in 19.4 overs, confused by the spin of offspinners Nahidul Islam and Nasum Ahmed.

Opener Soumya Sarkar scored 57 runs off 45 balls with 6 fours and two sixes for the team. Besides, Taskin Ahmed and Al-Amin Hossain scored 12 and 10 runs. None of the others scored double-figure runs. Nahidul took 4 wickets and Nasum took 3 wickets for Khulna.

Chasing the target, Khulna Tigers were all out for 84 runs in 15.3 overs, confused by the speed of Taskin Ahmed and Al-Amin Hossain and the spin of Nasir Hossain. Opener Tamim Iqbal scored maximum 30 runs off 23 balls for the team. Besides, captain Yasir Ali scored 21 runs off 24 balls. Taskin Ahmed took 4 wickets for 9 runs in 3.3 overs for Dhaka. Nasir Hossain and Al-Amin took 2 wickets each.
