SP Barrister has been given compulsory retirement from government service. Zillur Rahman. This information was informed in a notification from the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday.

According to the notification, BCS (Police) cadre member Additional Commandant (Superintendent of Police) Barrister Md. Zillur Rahman was retired from public service in the public interest as per the provisions of section 45 of the Public Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018). This order issued in public interest will be effective immediately.

Meanwhile, Barrister Zillur Rahman was once the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Moulvibazar. At that time, during a meeting of the Election Commission with the DC-SPs across the country regarding the law and order situation in the upazila elections, the then police superintendent of Moulvibazar said, ‘If action is taken against the BNP candidate, the BNP will not keep our jobs in the future.’ In response to his statement, Election Commissioner (then) Brigadier General M Sakhawat Hossain said, ‘You should remove this respectable dress of the police from your body.’

This police officer has written a book titled ‘Disciplinary Action of Government Servants’.

Finally on November 16, Police Superintendent Md. Ali Hussain Fakir. He was attached to Rajshahi Range DIG office while serving as Captain of 3rd APBN, Khulna. He is a BCS 15 batch officer. His village home is Bagerhat. Apart from Dhaka Metropolitan Police, he was Superintendent of Police of Netrakona, Feni and Magura.

On the other hand, the government sent three superintendents of police on compulsory retirement on October 18. They are CID Police Superintendent Mirza Abdullah Baki, Police Headquarters Police Superintendent Delwar Hossain Mia and Md. Shahidullah Chowdhury. Besides, two additional DIGs were also compulsorily retired on October 31. They are – Additional DIG of Tourist Police. Mahbub Hakim and Additional DIG of CID. Alamgir Alam Besides, on October 16, the government retired Information Secretary Maqbul Hossain from compulsory government service.

Earlier on September 2, 2021, Additional DIG of CID Sheikh Omar Farooq and Captain (Superintendent of Police) Mohammad Abdur Rahim of sixth APBN of Mahalchari, Khagrachari were sent to retirement.
