A student of Dhaka University has mysteriously died after falling from the roof of a building in Japan Garden City under Adabar Police Station. His name is Joynatun Habib Prapti (20). He is a second year student of Accounting Department of Dhaka University.

The incident took place at around 5 pm on Wednesday (June 1) in the building No. 16 of Japan Garden City. Tripti lived with her parents in flat number 102 of that building.

Adabar Police Station SI Matiur Rahman said it was raining around 5 pm. At that time, the security guards of building number 16 heard the sound of a heavy object falling from the side of the building. They went and saw a young woman lying in a bloody state on the paved road next to the building. Later the police went and made an inquest report of the body.

He further said that Prapti is a student of Accounting Department of Dhaka University. His father Habibur Rahman is working as an engineer in LGED. Building No. 16 has 15 floors. The roof of the building is surrounded by walls at least four and a half feet high. Security guards told police that the roof door was locked. If anyone has any need, they have to take the key from the security guard from the ground floor. Receipt took the key from the ground floor before the rain started.

Police said they were investigating whether Prapti had committed suicide or had been pushed away. Video footage from a CCTV camera in a nearby building is being sought.
