Tariff commission has decided the price of palm oil and sugar. Last Thursday, the retail price of Palm Oil Super was fixed at Tk 133 per liter. 84 per kg of open sugar and 89 per kg of packaged sugar has been fixed. This information is known from the sources of Tariff Commission.
It was decided in a meeting in the Ministry of Commerce on August 30 that the prices of 9 daily essential products will be fixed. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi made the announcement after the meeting. 23 days after the announcement, only palm oil and sugar prices were fixed.
According to the Tariff Commission, apart from the retail price, producer and wholesale prices of palm oil and sugar have also been fixed. In this case, the millgate or producer price per liter of super palm oil is Tk 128 and the distributor or wholesale price is Tk 130.
The price of open sugar has been reduced by Rs.6 to Rs.84 per kg; The price at the millgate and distributor level has been fixed at Tk 79 and Tk 81 per kg respectively. On the other hand, the maximum retail price of packaged sugar (refined) has been fixed at Tk 89 per kg; The price of which has been fixed at millgate and distributor level is 82 and 84 taka per kg respectively.
According to the Tariff Commission, this new price will be effective from Sunday, September 25.
Earlier on August 23, the price of open soybean oil was fixed at Tk 175 per liter. A five liter bottle of soybean oil is priced at Tk 945. And one liter of open palm oil is priced at Tk 145. According to the new rate, the price of palm oil has decreased by Tk 12 per litre.
