The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a prize of half a crore or 50 lakh taka for the Bangladesh women’s football team for winning the history-making Safar trophy. This is the first time that any institution has announced a big prize for the damal girls of Bengal.

BCB confirmed the matter in a press release on Wednesday. According to the notification, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon has allocated this money for the women footballers of Bangladesh.

BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon was quoted as saying in the circular, ‘The women’s football team has made the entire nation proud with its historic achievements and great performances. To show our support and appreciation for their efforts, on behalf of BCB, I am announcing a monetary award of Tk 50 lakh to the entire team. There is no doubt, this success of Safar will act as a motivation for the country’s female and male athletes to achieve success in the international arena in their respective sports.’

On Monday (September 19), Sabina-Sanjidara became the clean champions for the first time after defeating hosts Nepal 3-1 at the Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu. Ever since this historic victory, the country has been flooded with joy. The indomitable girls gave the football crazy Bengali a taste of dream come true.

The girls of Bengal are returning to the country today after winning the crown of historic Saf. Open-top buses will be ready at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to receive the girls. Sanjidara will ride the open-roof champion bus to get the trophy and get soaked by the warm welcome of the patriots.
