The court of Islam rejected the plea of acquittal and gave this order. At the same time, he fixed 22 September as the date for taking the testimony in this case.
The other accused whose trial has started are PK Halder’s mother Lilavati Halder, Purnima Rani Halder, Uttam Kumar Mistry, Amitabh Adhikari, Pritish Kumar Halder, Rajiv Som, Subrata Das, Anang Mohan Roy, Swapan Kumar Mistry, Avantika Baral, Shankh Bepari, Sukumar Mridha. And Anindita Mridha. Among them, the accused Avantika Baral, Shankh Bepari, Sukumar Mridha, Anindita Mridha are detained in jail. 10 accused including RPK Haldar are absconding.
Four accused detained in jail were produced in court yesterday. The lawyer of the accused pleaded their innocence and applied for exemption from the liability of the case. On the other hand, the ACC lawyer heard in favor of framing the complaint. After hearing both sides, the court rejected the plea of acquittal of the four accused and ordered the trial to begin by framing the complaint.
On January 8, 2020, the ACC filed a case against PK Halder on allegations of illegal acquisition and money laundering of about Tk 275 crore. After investigating, the ACC filed a charge sheet against 14 people including PK Halder.
According to the charge sheet of the ACC, PK Haldar bought 6,790 percent of land in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Narsingdi and other parts of the country in the name of Anonymous. The market value of this asset is shown as 391 crore 75 lakh 81 thousand 12 taka. According to the current market price, the value of this asset is Tk 933 crore. Out of this, he bought 4,174 percent of the land in his own name. Its price is shown in the document as 67 crore 94 lakh 20 thousand 930 taka. However, the current value of this asset is Tk 228 crore. Apart from this, there are two flats in the name of P Ker in Dhanmondi.
The chargesheet also said that Prashant had built a building in Uttara in the name of his close relative Purnima Rani Haldar. The price of which is 12 crore rupees. And Poornima’s brother Uttam Kumar bought 109 percent land in Tejgaon, Tejturi Bazar and Green Road in the name of Mistry. The market value of which is Tk 200 crore. Prashant has built an eight-storey hotel on two acres of land in Cox’s Bazar in the name of his paper company Clewistone Foods. The financial value of which is now 240 crores. Apart from this, PK’s cousin Amitabh Adhikari and Anang Mohan Roy bought 404 percent land in Dhaka and Narayanganj at a cost of Tk 167 crore.
According to the ACC report citing information from Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) and Canadian Financial Intelligence Unit, between 2012 and 2020, PK Halder smuggled one crore 17111164 Canadian dollars to his brother Pritish Halder. The value of which is about 80 crores in Bangladeshi taka.
