People across the UK paid their respects by laying flowers after news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-serving monarch.
Thousands of people gathered at Buckingham Palace to lay flowers and take pictures of the Queen’s residence. At that time the British national flag was at half-mast.
A notice was posted at the palace gates announcing the death of the queen.
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral Castle on Thursday afternoon. Despite the bad weather, people started paying their respects with flowers at the entrance of the palace within no time.
The Queen’s preferred residence was Windsor Castle. The locals here considered Rani as their neighbour.
A minute’s silence was observed before the match between West Ham United and FCBS at the London Stadium.
People also gathered to pay their respects at the Queen’s other residence, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
