I am honored to receive the pair. Then the tea workers present welcomed the Prime Minister with loud applause.

Prime Minister of the country Sheikh Hasina, daughter of the father of the nation, will exchange views. Because of this, the tea workers were also feeling very respected, said tea worker leader Raju Goala. And after receiving the gifts given by the tea workers, he sat down to discuss with them.

In the exchange meeting, the Prime Minister listened attentively to the tea workers. He promised to fulfill everything including their land rights. At that time, the Prime Minister was moved to tears after hearing about the miserable life of the workers.

Earlier, around 4:30 in the afternoon, the Prime Minister connected virtually with the workers of Kamalganj Patrakhola tea garden in Moulvibazar. Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan welcomed him at this time. Then Deputy Commissioner Ishrat joined virtually from Habiganj Chandichara tea garden. Tea worker Shimu Rani Roy spoke on behalf of the workers. Then Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mujibur Rahman joined from Sylhet. He welcomed the Prime Minister and said that the tea workers were looking forward to talking to him.

Besides, the workers of Karnaphuli tea plantation in Chittagong also spoke to the Prime Minister. The Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban spoke via virtual connection from there. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister expressed his admiration by seeing the tea workers and their children dancing to the rhythm of the dance.

Tea workers across the country, including Sylhet, protested for 19 consecutive days demanding wage hike. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina intervened just when their movement was gaining momentum, public opinion was building in their favor at home and abroad.

At one stage he met with the owner of the tea garden and announced a 50 taka increase in wages. However, earlier, tea workers from various quarters announced an increase in wages of 20 taka, 25 taka, and urged the tea workers to stop their agitation. But the tea workers and their representative leaders were repeatedly saying that they wanted to hear a direct announcement from the Prime Minister himself. When the Prime Minister announced through any means, the tea workers accepted his decision and announced to return to work.

Respecting their request, the Prime Minister held a meeting with the garden owners and announced a 50 taka increase in wages on August 28, and the workers accepted it and joined the work. Then some gifts were sent to the Prime Minister on behalf of the workers. Among the gifts was a pair of bangles. After that, the Prime Minister held discussions with them today (September 3) afternoon.
