The two warplanes and fighting helicopters of Myanmar did not enter the airspace of the Bangladesh border, said Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen.

He said this in response to a question from journalists after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s video conference with tea workers at Lakkatura tea garden in Sylhet on Saturday afternoon.

When asked about Myanmar’s mortar shells and helicopter drills inside Bangladesh, the foreign minister said, according to the information given by our border guards, they have not entered our country. I told the Myanmar ambassador about the mortar shells, they said they will talk to the Myanmar government about these issues. They said it was an Estrey mortar shell.

“Fortunately it did not explode and fell in the forest area,” the minister said.

It is to be noted that two shells of the Myanmar security forces came within 120 meters of the Bangladesh territory near the zero line at Naikshyongchari border in Bandarban. Although these two shells exploded in the uninhabited hills on Saturday morning, there was no casualty. Earlier on August 28, two mortar shells landed in the populated area of Ghumdhumpara, north of Naikshyongchari. However, there were no casualties as the two shells did not explode.
