Shaheen Alam was produced in the court on Thursday (September 1) and his seven-day remand was sought for proper investigation of the case. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan (DMP) Magistrate Shuvra Chakraborty granted a one-day remand.

Earlier, the student committed suicide by jumping from the roof of a building in Dakshinkhan Mollartek area last Saturday afternoon. That same night, Sanjana’s mother Umm Salma filed a case against Shaheen Alam as a plaintiff, accusing her of abetment of suicide.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin said, there were allegations that Sanjana’s father had encouraged Sanjana to commit suicide. Since then we have been looking for him. But he went into hiding soon after the incident. We continue our intelligence activities. He was arrested yesterday afternoon on the basis of secret information. Details will be given in a press conference later on.

Meanwhile, a suicide note found after the death of BRAC University student Sanjana Mosaddika fell from the roof and revealed that she was regularly abused by her father. There Farzana writes – My father is responsible for my death. Can live with animals in a house. But not with non-humans. A tyrannical rapist who doesn’t even spare his maid. I am the beginning of his tragic fate.

After the incident, Inspector (Investigation) of Dakshin Khan Police Station Azizul Haque Mia said that the girl’s father has a car rental business (Rent a Car). According to the in-laws, they lived in the flat found in the Dakshinkhan building. A few days ago, when his second marriage came to light, he broke up with Farzana’s mother. Even then he used to visit that house sometimes. The mother complained that he did not pay for her daughter’s education. There was chaos and quarrels in the family about this. Dakshinkhan Thana police also said that they have also recovered some documents related to the psychiatric treatment of the student from that house. In the March prescription, the doctor advised not to leave the girl alone.

Farzanad’s neighbor Suraiya Lata also told the terrible information of the torture. A month ago, after Sanjana screamed for her life, they went to find her arrested father holding a noose around her neck. Another neighbor of Sanjana, Nazmun Nahar, said that Sanjana’s father preached around, that she is not his child. He married her with children from his wife’s previous house, but whatever the case, he did it knowingly. You can’t fight like this.

Sanjana’s mother Umm Salma said, I got information about another marriage of Shaheen a few months ago. Shaheen’s wife is pregnant. On the one hand, Sanjana is mentally broken due to her father’s torture and second marriage.’ When asked how long the torture has been going on, Salma said, ‘Sanjana’s father was a driver earlier. For 5 years the level of torture has increased. According to Salma, after learning about Shaheen’s forced physical relationship with the house maid, she sent the girl home.
