Dhaka: A fire broke out in the capital’s Northern City Corporation (DNCC) building. Apart from the City Corporation office, the building houses Unimart Supershop, Chef’s Table restaurant.
Four fire service units are working to control the fire.
On Thursday (September 1) at 7:08 a.m., the fire service received information about a fire on the 8th floor of the Gulshan Center Point building on road number 90 of Gulshan-2.
Razi Al Farooq, duty officer of the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense, told BanglaNews that four units of the fire service went to the spot and worked to control the fire after receiving information that there was a fire on the eighth floor of the North City Corporation building in Gulshan of the capital. Initially, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage was not known.
Meanwhile, DNCC public relations officer Maqbul Hossain said, the fire started due to a short circuit from the electrical control room next to the elevator on the 8th floor of DNCC. This incident happened around 7:00 am. Within 8-15 minutes, 3 fire service units reached the spot and started working. The fire is fully under control. A very small part of the ceiling caught fire, leaving the entire floor engulfed in smoke. On the 8th floor, some glass near the reception and in the front are being broken and taken out.
He said a fire service team is on the ground trying to find the exact source of the fire. No major damage has been done so far.
