Dhaka: Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the country’s democracy and elections are progressing well without BNPK.

He said this at a press conference at the Awami League president’s political office in Dhanmondi, capital, on Friday (April 26).

Obaidul Quader said, today they talk about dummy elections. But BNP has become ineffective in democracy and elections and has itself become a dummy political party. They felt that the government would not get legitimacy if they did not participate in the elections. But the opposite happened. After the national elections, 231 elections were held at various levels of local government. Where 60 percent of votes have been cast.

General Secretary of Awami League said that the country’s democracy and elections are progressing well without BNP. Upazila elections will also be fair. Awami League will not support or oppose anyone from BNP in this election. BNPE will take care of BNP’s affairs.

Obaidul Quader said that there is still time to withdraw the candidature regarding disobedience of the party instructions in the upazila elections. Must see till the last day. Organizational measures will be taken in time if party instructions are disobeyed.

The Election Commission is afraid of interference and violence by MPs in the upazila elections – In response to the questions of the journalists, the bridge minister said that there may be a conflict. However, our efforts to avoid conflict continue.

Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, Mirza Azam, Afzal Hossain, Sujit Roy Nandi and others were present in the press conference.
