Even after Sunday, these temperatures may persist for a few days.

A red alert has been issued in five districts of South Bengal on Friday and Saturday due to heat wave. Red alert has been issued in East Midnapore, West Midnapore, West Burdwan, Jhargram and Bankura districts. Heat wave is likely till Tuesday in other southern districts. Due to this, orange alert has also been issued in the districts. Along with the heat wave, hot and uncomfortable weather will also persist in all the southern districts.

The northern districts are also not spared from the intense burning of the month of Baisakh. While some areas of Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaiguri districts will receive light rain, the rest of the northern districts will witness dry weather accompanied by scorching heat. A red alert has been issued in North Dinajpur and Maldah districts on Friday due to heat wave.

Panagadh recorded the second highest temperature in the state. There, the mercury reached 43.2 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, the maximum temperature in Suri too was 43 degrees Celsius.
