Dhaka: Extreme heat wave has started again. The thermometer rose to 42.4 degrees Celsius, the second highest temperature of the season.

Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallick said that the highest temperature was recorded in Jessore on Thursday (April 25). Chuadanga recorded 42.2 degrees Celsius, Rajshahi 41.9 degrees, Khulna and Ishwardi 41.5 degrees, Kumarkhali 41.2 degrees, Faridpur 41 degrees and Dhaka 39.1 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, moderate to severe heat waves are also flowing in other parts of the country.

According to the Met Office, the extension of the low pressure is over West Bengal and adjoining areas.

On Friday (April 26) two places in Chittagong and Sylhet Divisions are likely to experience rain/thunder with gusty winds and scattered hail at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

Apart from this, very intense heat waves are flowing over Chuadanga and Jessore districts. Intense heat wave is passing over other districts of Khulna division including Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalganj, Manikganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur and Syedpur districts and Dhaka, Madaripur, Kishoreganj, Narsingdi, Bogra, Naogaon, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Panchagarh, Mymensingh. , Mild to moderate heat wave is moving over Barisal division including Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Feni, Bandarban and Noakhali districts and may continue.

Day and night temperatures will remain almost unchanged across the country. Excess water vapor may cause discomfort.

On Saturday (April 27) Sylhet division may experience rain/thundershower with gusty/gusty winds at a couple of places along with isolated hailstorm at isolated places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. The prevailing heat wave will continue. Day and night temperatures may remain almost unchanged across the country. Besides, there will be discomfort due to excess of water vapor.

On Sunday (April 28) Sylhet division may experience rain/thundershower with gusty/gusty winds at two places along with scattered hail at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky. The prevailing heat wave will continue. Day temperatures may rise slightly across the country and night temperatures will remain almost unchanged. Excess water vapor may cause discomfort.

By the end of the extended five days, the trend of rainfall may increase over the northeastern parts of the country.

On April 20, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in Jessore at 42.6 degrees Celsius. And the maximum temperature recorded in Dhaka is 40.4 degrees Celsius. On this day, the temperature was recorded at 42.3 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, 41.7 degrees Celsius in Mongla, 41.6 degrees Celsius in Ishwardi, and 41.2 degrees Celsius in Khulna. Besides, mild to severe heatwaves have prevailed in other parts of the country, which are still prevailing.

On April 17, 2023, the highest temperature recorded in the country in the previous nine years was at Ishwardi, 43 degrees Celsius. And in May 2014, the highest temperature recorded in Chuadanga was 43.3 degrees Celsius.

On April 16, 2023, the temperature of Dhaka was the highest in the previous 58 years, at 40.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Dhaka in 1965 was 42 degrees Celsius. Earlier in 1960, the maximum temperature of Dhaka was 42.3 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature recorded in Rajshahi was 45.1 degrees Celsius on 18 May 1972, a record that is still unbroken.
