He is the upazila chairman of Delwar unopposed

--

Finally, Delwar Hossain Pasha has been elected privately unopposed as chairman in Singra Upazila of Natore. District Election Officer and Returning Officer Abdul Latif Sheikh announced this on Tuesday (April 23).

Delwar Hossain was declared unopposed in a letter signed by Natore District Election Officer and Upazila Returning Officer Abdul Latif Sheikh on Tuesday (April 23) afternoon.

Returning officer Abdul Latif Sheikh said that on May 8, elections will be held in Sadar, Naldanga and Singra upazila parishads of Natore in the first phase. There is no candidate other than Delwar Hossain for the post of Singra Upazila Chairman, therefore Delwar Hossain was declared elected unopposed. However, the voting for the post of Vice Chairman will be held on the scheduled date.

Incidentally, two candidates submitted nomination papers for the post of chairman in Singra Upazila Parishad elections. After verification, the nomination papers of Returning Officer Lutful Habib Rubel and Delwar Hossain were declared valid. But Lutful Habib Rubel, brother-in-law of State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak, withdrew his candidacy from Singra Upazila Parishad election on Sunday (April 21). As a result, the chairman candidate Delwar Hossain’s way to be elected unopposed is smooth. Before that, he had to be abducted and tortured due to upazila parishad elections.
