The Department of Health has given four suggestions to reduce the risk of heatstroke in extreme heat.

In a notification on Tuesday, the Department of Health said, to avoid heatstroke, one should stay away from extreme heat, take occasional rest in the shade.

The organization advises drinking plenty of safe water to replenish the body’s dehydration. However, to avoid deadly waterborne diseases including hepatitis A, E, diarrhea, street food and drinks should be avoided. Bathe several times a day if necessary.

The health department has advised to wear loose thin and light colored clothes in hot weather. Dark colored clothing should be avoided if possible.

The Department of Health said that in hot weather, any symptoms such as cessation of sweating, nausea, severe headache, increased body temperature, decreased urination, burning sensation in urine, convulsions and fainting should go to the hospital immediately.

From mid-April, the heat wave has made people’s life miserable. The heatwave has been going on for several days in most parts of the country, which may continue for a few more days, the Met Office said.

One death was reported in Dhaka on Tuesday amid suffocating conditions in the scorching heat.

A person collapsed on the street in the scorching heat while walking on the streets of Gulistan on Tuesday. He died after being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The police believe that the person may have died of heatstroke.

Earlier on Saturday, two deaths were reported due to heat stroke. On Sunday, a housewife died in Meherpur, a rickshaw driver in Sylhet and a businessman in Narsingdi. On Monday, a rickshaw driver passed away unconscious on Dhaka’s road. Doctors believe that they died of heat stroke.
