Bandarban: Law and order forces have arrested seven people including the expelled president of Ruma Chhatra League (KNF) in the operation of joint forces in Ruma and Thanchi of Bandarban.

They were arrested from Munlai Para in Ruma on Monday (April 22) night on suspicion of involvement in bank robbery, armed robbery and kidnapping in Bandarban’s Ruma. They later appeared in the Bandarban Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (April 23) afternoon.

The seven arrested are Ruma Chhatra League expelled president Bhan Noon Noam Bum, Lal Noon Noam, Lal David Bum, Chamlian Bum, Lal Pek Lian, Lal Min Bum and Bhan Biak Lian Bum. All of them are residents of Munlai Para in Ruma.

These seven people were arrested in the case of bank robbery, armed robbery and kidnapping and were produced in the court on Tuesday afternoon. There, Senior Judicial Magistrate ASM Emran ordered to send them to jail. The joint forces arrested 78 people so far in Ruma and Thanchi bank robbery cases.

Meanwhile, Ruma Upazila Chhatra League president Bhan Mun Noam Bom was expelled by the Chhatra League for his association with KNF before his arrest. In a notice signed by District Chhatra League President Ang Ching U Pulu and General Secretary Saddam Hossein Manik, he was informed of his expulsion from the organization.

According to the notification, according to the urgent decision of the Bangladesh Chhatra League Bandarban Hill District Branch, the president of Ruma Upzilla Chhatra League Bhan Mun Noam Bom was expelled due to allegations of engaging in activities like unconstitutional, indiscipline, criminal and undermining the dignity of the organization.

District Chhatra League president Ang Chaing U Pulu Marma said that he has been expelled because of his involvement with KNF.

Earlier on April 2, KNF attacked Sonali Bank in Ruma Upazila of Bandarban. They looted 14 weapons of police and Ansar members guarding there. Even if they wanted to break the vault of the bank and loot the money, they could not. However, they kidnapped the manager of the bank, Nezam Uddin.

Two days later, law enforcement forces rescued Nezam Uddin in a hilly area of ​​Ruma. However, in the meantime, on April 3, KNF attacked Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank in Thanchi upazila in the afternoon and looted money.

After these incidents, joint forces are conducting operations in Ruma and Thanchi areas. In the meantime, 78 people, including 21 women, have been arrested in this operation of the joint forces of BGB, RAB and police in coordination with the army.
