Seven people arrested on suspicion of being KNF members in Bandarban’s Ruma have been sent to jail.
Seven people arrested on suspicion of being members of Pahar’s armed organization KNF have been arrested and sent to jail in a bank robbery case at Ruma in Bandarban.
When the accused were produced in the Bandarban Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at 2.30 pm on Monday, Senior Judicial Magistrate SM Imran ordered to send them to jail, said General Registration Officer (GRO) of the court Biswajit Singh.
The accused are Lal Noon Noam Bom (68), Lal David Bom (42), Chamlian Bom (56), Lal Pek Lian Bom (32), Van Noon Noam Bom (33), Lal Min Bom (50) and Ngan Biak Lian. Bom (23).
Among them, Ngan Biak Lian Bom is only a resident of Laimi Para, Ward No. 6 of Bandarban Sadar Union; The rest are residents of Munlai Para in Ruma Sadar Union.
Apart from this, accused Bhan Nun Noam Bom was the president of Ruma Upazila branch of Chhatra League, District Chhatra League said.
District Chhatra League President Angchai U Marma Pulu and General Secretary Saddam Hossain said in a circular signed that Bhanu Nun Noam Bom was expelled for being involved in activities that are anti-constitutional, indiscipline, criminal and demeaning to the dignity of the organization.
On April 2, a group of armed men robbed Sonali Bank of Ruma Upazila and looted money. They also looted 10 weapons of the police and four of the Ansar members. Bank manager Nezam Uddin was kidnapped. Two days later, RAB reported that he was rescued from a hilly area in Ruma.
A day after the Ruma incident, on April 3, there was a robbery of money in Sonali and Krishi banks of Thanchi upazila in the afternoon.
Law enforcement officials said the Kuki Chin National Front-KNF, an armed outfit in the hills, was involved in the two incidents. Since then joint forces have been conducting operation against terrorists in Ruma and Thanchi to recover looted weapons and money. Army, BGB, RAB and police are participating in the operation. The army is coordinating this operation of the joint forces.
The police reported that 78 people, including 22 women, have been arrested so far from different areas in this operation of the joint forces.
