Chennai coach saddened by Mustafiz’s departure

--

Tiger pacer Mostafizur Rahman is the sole representative of Bangladesh in the world’s biggest franchise cricket tournament (IPL). He is playing for the defending champion Chennai Super Kings. He has taken 11 wickets in 6 matches so far. He is also in the race to get the purple cap for the highest wicket taker. But he is not getting much time to achieve that cap. He has to return from IPL midway.

He will leave the squad of five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings for the series against Zimbabwe and return home by May 2. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given him a no-objection letter till May 1. During this period, however, there is an opportunity to enter the field in three matches for Chennai. He will return to Bangladesh after completing the matches against April 23 (Lucknow), April 28 (Hyderabad) and May 1 (Punjab).

Fiz took the highest wicket for Chennai in this tournament. So naturally, from the team management in Chennai to the audience, everyone would want to get hold of this cutter master for a longer period of time. Australian legend and Chennai batting coach Mike Hussey commented on Mustafiz’s departure from the IPL. The famous batsman said about Mostafiz, ‘Mostafiz’s slower ball is really amazing. It is a tough game for any batsman, especially in Chennai. We will feel bad if he goes back to Bangladesh, but his country is calling him. We want to keep Mustafiz as long as he can stay. We are quite satisfied with his performance.’

Chennai will take on Lucknow at their home ground M Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday (April 23). Mustafiz is more likely to be in the XI of this match. Tiger Pacer took 8 wickets after playing 3 matches in this field in Chipok. Today too, the Yellow Army in Chennai will want Fizz to do something great.

Also, Mustafiz has a chance to lift the purple cap once again, albeit for a short period of time. This cutter master who took 11 wickets and takes three wickets will get the hat again. Of course, Mustafiz can hope to play the chip, this is the field where he is most successful.

Jasprit Bumrah now holds the purple cap for the highest wicket-taker in the IPL. One of the best pacers in the world who played in Mumbai Indians took 13 wickets in 8 matches. Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshit Patel also took 13 wickets. Apart from this, Gerald Cottage of Mumbai has 12 wickets.
