Natore: Natore Singra Upazila Parishad chairman candidate Delwar Hossain along with the black color microbus used in kidnapping Md. A person named Ataur Rahman (45) has been arrested by the police.
At this time, two china chapatis, a china tip knife, a Burmese cutter, two native ramadas, two steel pipes, two stamp sticks, a chapati, election poster, handbill, calendar were seized from inside the microbus.
Natore Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam gave this information at a press conference on Saturday (April 20) at 6 p.m.
Earlier, the microbus was recovered from the garage of his house in Chakpur village of Singra upazila around 5:30 pm.

The Superintendent of Police said in a press conference that on April 15, in front of the Natore District Election Commission office, the rival candidate in the upcoming upazila parishad election. Delwar Hossain’s submission of nomination papers was obstructed, assaulted and abducted. A few hours later, the assailants left him seriously injured in front of his house. Three people have already been arrested in this incident.
Among those arrested, one named Suman Ahmed said in a statement under section 164 in the court that they abducted and beat Delwar Hossain, the only rival candidate of Lutful Habib Rubel. He also admitted who else was with them. After this incident, the microbus could not be rescued. Later on Tuesday (April 16) around 12:30 p.m., Mojibur Rahman, brother of the injured, filed a case against 15 to 20 unknown people at Natore Sadar police station.
A smart team of police under the overall direction of Superintendent of Police Tariqul Islam (PPM) of Natore, with the help of information technology, conducted raids at various places in Singra of Natore district on Saturday (April 20) afternoon and arrested an accused involved in the incident.
In the press conference, he also said that according to the information and evidence of the arrested accused, the black colored microbus used in the kidnapping was seized from the garage of the accused’s residence. After searching inside the car, two Chinese chapatis, a china tip knife, a Burmese cutter, two native ramadas, two steel pipes, two stamp sticks, a chapati, driving license of the absconding accused Sujan driver and the car documents were seized.
At the same time, chairman candidate. Numerous leaflets, sticker leaflets, posters containing calendars of Lutful Habib Rubel were seized. He also said that BRTA has been informed to know who is the real owner of the vehicle. Today we can officially announce the name of the real owner.
It is to be noted that on the last day of submission of nomination papers for upazila parishad elections on Monday around 4:00 pm, some young candidates from inside Natore district election officer’s office beat Delwar Hossain and took him in a black microbus. About an hour later, he left Delwar in front of his village house in Saiil village of Singra in a dazed state. Delwar Hossain is currently undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
