General Secretary of Jatiya Party (Japa) Mujibul Haque Chunnu said that Jatiya Party will field candidates in 300 seats in the next election. Candidates will participate in the elections with the party’s own symbol, plow, not from any coalition or grand coalition.
He said this while talking to journalists at the office of the JPA chairman at Banani in the capital on Tuesday (November 21).
Mujibul Haque Chunnu commented that ‘change of power is not possible without elections’ and every election held in the last 33 years has been criticized. Those who won the elections under the caretaker government said the elections were fair. And those who could not come to power said that the election was not fair. It is not possible to make the election 100% fair in the current election system.
Regarding dialogue, he said, neither the government party nor BNP is interested in dialogue. But there is still time to negotiate. At this time, he urged the government to bring like-minded opposition parties including BNP to the elections.
When asked about whether to join the election or not, Chunnu said that if there is a coalition or a grand alliance, then an application must be made to the Election Commission first. We have not given any such written application. Because our decision was that we will field candidates in 300 seats in the next election. We still have that decision. In 300 constituencies, we will conduct elections with our own symbol plow.
On Tuesday (November 21), Chunnu said that 622 nomination forms were sold in Japa, and 1,179 nomination forms were sold in two days.
