Rohit has two more sixes than Villiers-Morgan

Making hitting sixes a favorite habit, Rohit Sharma achieved two feats. The Indian skipper edged AB de Villiers to claim one, followed by Wayne Morgan for another.

Rohit hit 60 sixes in total this year. No other batsman holds the record for so many sixes in one calendar year in ODIs. Rohit took 24 innings for 60 sixes. The previous record was held by former South African star Villiers. He hit 58 sixes in 18 innings in 2015.

One has more than fifty sixes in one calendar year in ODIs. Former West Indies opener Chris Gayle hit 56 over boundaries in 15 innings in 2019. Also, in 2002, former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi hit 48 sixes in 36 innings.

Rohit also now owns the highest number of sixes as a captain in a World Cup. This time he hit 24 sixes in nine innings. Morgan, the previous record holder, has fallen behind. England’s World Cup-winning captain hit 22 sixes in the 2019 tournament.

Another has more than twenty sixes in a single tournament as a captain. Villiers hit 21 sixes in the 2015 World Cup. Besides, Australia’s Aaron Finch hit 18 sixes in 2019 and New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum hit 17 sixes in 2015.
