A passenger bus was burnt in Mirpur in the afternoon of the fourth phase of blockade called by BNP.
Police said there were no casualties as the passengers quickly got off the bus after the fire broke out.
The OC of Mirpur Police Station said that the Prajapati Paribahan bus was set on fire near Mirpur No. 10 at around 1 pm on Sunday. Mohsin said.
He told bdnews24.com, “We learned from the passengers of the bus that the bus was heading towards Kalshi. When the bus reached near the 10th junction, some passengers sitting inside set fire to the back seat.
OC Mohsin said that the police are trying to identify the criminals.
A Malanch Paribahan bus was also set on fire at Sutrapur in Old Dhaka after 6 o’clock in the morning that day.
The BNP called the hartal after the clashes surrounding the October 28 Mahasambesh to demand the fall of the government. After that, the party held a blockade program for seven days in three stages one by one. The same-minded alliances and parties with BNP are also carrying out this program to demand the next elections under the caretaker government.
The fourth phase of road, rail and waterway blockade has started from Sunday morning, which will continue till 6 am on Tuesday.
