TVS has brought an electric two-wheeler with a powerful design

Science and Technology Desk: TVS Motor said in a statement that its Hosur plant will be the main production platform for the BMW CE02 electric two-wheeler. Over the past ten years, TVS Motors and BMW Motorrad have built a partnership based on shared values ​​of quality, performance and innovation, the company said. This successful collaboration has led to many tie-ups between the two companies.

In December 2021, both companies took steps to further enhance the partnership. In line with this, TVS Motors and BMW Motorrad will form a joint venture to develop new platforms and future technologies, including electric vehicles. In August this year TVS announced an investment of Rs 3,900 crore over the next 4-5 years to enhance its green portfolio.

The CE02, looking like a model straight out of a sci-fi movie, comes with a simple design. According to BMW, it offers a power of 14 HP and a range of 55 miles i.e. about 88 km. Its top speed is also 88 km per hour. These specifications are of a concept model and the design and specifications of the on-road model may change slightly.

TVS recently launched a premium electric bike TVS X priced at Rs 2.5 lakh. While the company’s iQube is the second best selling electric scooter in India with monthly sales of around 10,000 units. Meanwhile, TVS said its partnership with BMW has completed 10 years in two-wheeler production.

TVS signed a strategic partnership agreement with BMW in April 2013 to manufacture sub-500 cc motorcycles for the world. TVS’s Hosur plant already manufactures the BMW G310R and 310GS. The two companies have jointly developed and launched five popular motorcycles, including the BMW G 310 R, BMW 310 GS, BMW G 310 RR as well as the TVS Apache RR 310 and the recently launched TVS Apache RTR 310.

Along with this, the launch of 150,000 units of BMW Motorrad’s 310 cc series of motorcycles was also announced. The motorcycle is manufactured at TVS Motor’s Hosur plant, designed by Mr. KN Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO of TVS Motor Company and Dr. Marcus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad.
