Despite the growing consumer interest in electric scooters, electric bikes have not yet become popular. One of the biggest reasons is the absence of gear. So far gearless e-bikes have been noticed in India, but recently Matter, an Ahmedabad-based startup, has launched the country’s first geared electric bike. The name of the e-bike is Aera. The company has made a big announcement for those who have booked the model.
Delivery of Matter Aera electric bike from 2024
Company sources have informed that they will start delivery of Aera from the first quarter of next year. The pre-booking window is already open. To everyone’s surprise, the model has received more than 40,000 bookings so far. Let’s know the details of this electric bike.
Matter Aera has been launched in the market in two variants – 5000 and 5000+. Prices are Rs 1.74 lakh and Rs 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. Both the models have 10 kW i.e. 13.4 bhp motor. It can accelerate from 0-60km/h in just 6 seconds. Matter Aera is capable of traveling up to 125 km on a full charge.
The list of features of the electric bike is quite long. At the beginning, the instrument console with 7-inch touch screen will attract attention, where it is possible to see various important information including navigation, music, calls, messages. The company claims that it will cost only 25 paise per km. Also as a safety feature, the battery and motor have liquid cooling technology.
Mahal Lalbhai, the founder and leader of Matter, said about production and delivery, “Matter is going to play an important role in improving the environment-friendly transportation system in the coming days. Our mission and dream has been fully realized with our first electric motorcycle Matter Aera.”
Matter has almost finished building the factory to manufacture the e-bytes. It has the capacity to produce 60,000 models per year. They plan to increase their annual production capacity to 120,000 units as demand increases. Understanding the demand, Mater will build their second factory by 2025. They have hired a huge number of employees to run the event smoothly. At the end of last year, the company had two hundred employees. That number has now increased to over five hundred.
