Gazipur: The workers of various garment factories in Konabari area of ​​Gazipur City Corporation are protesting to demand increase in salary and allowances. Two buses were torched simultaneously from the protest.

On Tuesday (November 7) around 10 am, the workers staged a protest and set fire to the Dhaka-Tangail highway.

According to the police and eyewitnesses, for the last few days, the workers of garment factories have been protesting in various areas of Gazipur including Konabari. In continuation of this, workers blocked and vandalized roads in various areas including Konabari, Bimile and Zarun from Tuesday morning. At one point they blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Bymile area of ​​Konabari. Meanwhile, workers set fire to two passenger buses of Ajmeri Paribahan. Then the passengers quickly got off the bus.

Eyewitnesses said that since morning police chase and clashes with the workers are happening.

AKM Ashraf Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Konabari Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Police said that hundreds of workers of various garment factories are protesting. The workers blocked the Dhaka-Tangail highway and regional roads. At one point they set two buses on fire. Police are trying to control the situation.
