Dhaka: The fire service and civil defense directorate said miscreants set fire to 21 vehicles across the country including the capital in 38 hours of the 48-hour blockade by some parties including the BNP.

These incidents of setting fire took place from Sunday (November 5) at 4 am to Monday evening at 6 pm (38 hours).

On Monday evening, Talha bin Jasim, the media cell officer of the Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defense, told Banglanews about the matter.

He said, 12 fire incidents occurred in Dhaka City, four in Dhaka Division (Gazipur, Kaliakair, Narayanganj), four in Chittagong Division (Khagrachari, Anwara, Patia), one in Rajshahi Division (Bogra). In this incident, 15 buses, two trucks, a private car, a CNG and a Laguna were burnt.

41 units and 242 members of fire service and civil defense worked in these fires.

He said, analyzing the statistics, it was found that there were more cases of fire at night than during the day. Out of 21 in 38 hours, 16 fires occurred between 6 pm and 6 am and the remaining five occurred at other times of the day.

A total of 110 arson incidents occurred from October 28 to November 6. Among them, 29 fires occurred on 28 October, 19 on 29 October, 1 on 30 October, 11 on 31 October, 14 on 1 November, 7 on 2 November, 6 on 4 November, 13 on 5 November, 10 on 6 November.
