US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas held a meeting with Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Environment and Climate and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-9 Saber Hossain Chowdhury. The two-hour long meeting was held at Saber Hossain Chowdhury’s residence in Paribagh of the capital on Monday (November 6).
It is known that Peter Haas entered Saber Hossain Chowdhury’s house around 2 pm and left around 4 pm. At that time he did not speak to the media.
After the meeting, Saber Hossain Chowdhury told the media that Bangladesh has a dynamic and extensive relationship with the United States. Discussions were held with the US Ambassador on deepening and enriching this partnership to address the challenges of climate change.
Earlier, Peter Haas held a ‘closed-door’ meeting with Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen on November 3 at the Rashtriya Guest House Padma. But what was discussed, neither side said anything openly.
Besides, the US ambassador held a meeting at the Election Commission office in Agargaon of the capital on October 31. Later he told the media persons that political violence around the elections is not desirable in any way. He also urged the political parties to hold an unconditional dialogue before the elections.
