Joypurhat: The district administration has decided to sell potatoes at the price set by the government in the open market in Joypurhat to control the market. This decision was taken in a discussion meeting with the owners and managers of 19 cold stores in the district at noon on Thursday (November 2) in the district commissioner’s conference room.
Deputy Commissioner Salehin Tanveer Gazi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anwar Parvez, District Agriculture Extension Officer Rahela Parveen, District Training Officer of Agriculture Department Enamul Haque, District Agriculture Marketing Officer Ratan Kumar and others were present in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner Salehin Tanveer Gazi said in the exchange meeting, from now on, a total of 15 tons of potatoes will be sold in the open market at the rate of three tons every day in the five upazilas of the district. These potatoes will be available at five points in Kholabazar by trucks at the rate of Tk 36 per kg fixed by the government. Each family or person can buy up to five kg of potatoes.
According to this decision, buyers and consumers can buy up to five kg of potatoes per person at the rate of Tk 36 per kg fixed by the government at five points in every upazila including the district town. Every day, 15 tons of potatoes will be purchased from the pre-determined five cold stores of the district at the wholesale rate of Tk 27 per kg and supplied to Kholabazar.
