Within hours of the Prime Minister’s directive, the authorities have fixed the time for load shedding in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Power Development Board (BUBO) Sales and Distribution Division-2 in Sylhet. However, there may be load shedding outside of this, the power department said.

This is according to the chart given in a press release sent by Bubo Sales and Distribution Division-2 on Wednesday.

According to the press release, load shedding will take place from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in Jatarpur, Mirabazar, Agpara and Jherjheripara, Mirerchak, Pirerchak, Muktirchak and Muradpur areas of Sylhet metropolis.

Load shedding will take place from 1pm to 2.30pm in AJBCD and Terratan, Kumarpara, Naiopul, Dhopadighirpar and Jharnarpar areas of Shahjalal suburb.

Load shedding will take place in Baluchar, Arambagh, Al-Islah, Natunbazar, Gopaltila, Alurtal and TV Gate areas from 2.30 pm to 4 pm.

Load shedding will take place in Shibganj, Tilagarh, Sabujbagh, Senapara, Hatimbagh, Lamapara and Rajpara areas from 4pm to 5:30 pm.

Kushighat, Nayabasti, Tultikar, Mirpara, Mendibagh, Sadatikar, Noagaon, Shaplabagh, Mendibagh, Rayanagar, Jharnarpar, Darjiban, Bashundhara, Kharadipara and Daftaripad will be in the area from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

There will be load shedding from 6 pm to 8.30 pm at Senpara, Majumdarpara, East Mirabazar, Darjipara, Kharpara, Chalibandar, Kastghar, Sobhanighat, Bishbrod, Jail, Osmani Museum and Municipal Market.

There will be load shedding in Kazitula, Manikpir Mazar, Nayasarak, Barutkhana, Jail Road, Hawapara and Charadighirpar areas from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

There will be load shedding from 10 pm to 11:30 pm in Hawkers Market, Kalighat, Ali Amjad Road, Mahajanpatti, Machimpur, Chhararpar, sub-city block H-I-J-E-F-G and Sadatikar areas.

Mendibagh Point, Duburihaor, Nayorpool, Dhopadighirpar, Sobahanighat and Osmani Museum will be under load shedding from 11:30 pm to 1:00 pm.

Confirming the timing of load shedding, Shams-e Arefin, Executive Engineer, Bubo Sales and Distribution Division-2, said, “We have done an area-based preliminary routine as per the government’s instructions.” We will try to follow this routine if there is no shortage in production. However, if the deficit is high, deviation of this period may occur. Or if the deficit is less, there may be less load shedding.

He said that load shedding can be avoided by preventing power wastage. There are 60,000 customers under PDB-2 office in Sylhet. If everyone shuts off an average of 100 watts of electricity during peak hours, a total of 8 megawatts of electricity will be saved. This will reduce the amount of load-shedding. In this case, all customers will cooperate in the moment of national crisis by keeping at least one fan and unnecessary lights off during peak hours – this is what we hope.

Note that the price of fuel oil has risen worldwide. The government has decided to provide load shedding across the country by generating a limited range of electricity. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to give load shedding at fixed time by doing area based routine.
